Ken & Dave:Brain to Nowhere

Share

Quick RSS Subscription Links

Got to say, there really hasn't been a campaign song in this election that has captured the hearts and minds of the electorate, until now.

But Ken and Dave changed all that with their song: Brain to Nowhere!

It's a campaign song for Sarah Palin and John McCain, and while I have already voted myself for Obama, I have to say that I can't help letting you know about this song, because, well, great art should be noted.

I know, I know, there is a risk that it could turn the election, but it's in the late days now and it's got a great beat, you can dance to it, so I give it a 95. You just have to hear it. Tell me what you think.

And you you gotta love their backup singers and that piano extro at the end.

You also have to love someone who can admit their candidates', um, liabilities, and love her anyway. So give this ditty a listen, but vote Obama if you haven't already.

And if you're in Illinois, vote no on the Illinois Constitutional referendum. There is a separate call about Blago. But opening up a call about the constitution is just an open invitation to rape teacher, policeman, fireman and other government worker pensions to pay for mismanaged policies of Ryan and his predecessors and wreak other untold havoc. We don't need it.

Here's that video!

And whoever you support.

VOTE!

Even if you are for McCain. I mean that. Don't be a candy *ss.

Stand up and be counted in this election. If you don't vote the politicians think you don't care and that is worse than my candidate not winning. I think.

Oh, and if you are a 1 issue candidate. Ask yourself if your candidates have done anything real for your issue while they were in office. They haven't have they. Nada. In fact, for a lot of issues. Obama is the only one likely to sign off on money that would help the people that would help support your issue. Think about it.

Now, don't forget to vote! (Hopefully, Obama/Biden).

Reworking the Peter Files Blog of Comedy YouTube.com Focused Automatic Video Feed

Share

Quick RSS Subscription Links

After feedback from my most frequent readers (family members, bar patrons and hobos with T1 connections) I have made several changes to the way the automatic stream of YouTube.com videos stream to The Peter Files Blog of Comedy.

Before changing the content stream formula, I started by editing my blog template to move the video window to after title and the text in each post to make it easier for subscribers and regular readers to skip the videos and get right into the original content of the blog.

I then went to YouTube.com and changed the key words that triggered the videos streamed here from a list of random comedy key words to a list of comedy celebrities that I knew had content on YouTube.

Oddly this has resulted in an almost unanimous stream of Obama Girl - Amber Lee Ettinger videos, despite her presence near the end of the list. (see below) Perhaps it is the huge interest in the election, or her own huge popularity, but I find it odd that call for Obama girl videos is eclipsing the likes of Robin Williams, Billy Crystal and the others on the list. While I certainly don't mind all the cute videos, all the political videos was not what I had in mind for this spot, and I wanted to mention that and thought I would let you know that I am trying to fix this.

Here's my original source list:
"Robin Williams" "Danny Divito" "Bob Newhart" "Billy Crystal" "Dick Van Dyke" "Mark Twain" "David Letterman" "Jay Leno" "Rob Reiner" "Diet Coke and Mentos" "Hayden" "Christina Applegate" "Cheerleaders" "Obama Girl" "Buffy and Dawn" "most viewed comedy ever"

I'm obvioulsy going to have to edit this list some how! Check the videos later to see how/if I suceeded.

Everybody laughs at kumquats! Why is that?

A (Musical Comedy) Tribute to Pi

Share

Quick RSS Subscription Links

This post is dedicated to my friend Tom G. who would have found this music video by the group hard n phirm even funnier than I do. Tom also would have been pleased with its accuracy and completeness.

Our friend Bob Z., who incorporated pie fights into his melodramas set around the ancient Greek gods would have loved it too.

NSFW? Note: This video contains the "F" word. Once. So, don't blare it at work if this is a problem. Or at home if you have a toddler who will then go on to repeat it endlessly like any new word without knowing what it means.

Normally, I would not post it because of this, but it is just too funny. You have been warned.

I don't know about you, but I find the chorus of this song, which repeats Pi out to about 100 significant figures especially catchy

It's got a beat, you can dance to it, its edutainment, I give it a 95.

Tom G. specialized, at friends' weddings, at serving up, instead of the wedding cake, the wedding Pi. He would come up to the mike and announce just that, take a pause and begin:

Tom recited Pi, "3.14159...." to about 100 places with full dramatic range, sparing no punches, high drama, low drama, comedy, tragedy, cragedy, all within the recitation of these numbers.

Alas, after surviving testicular cancer, Tom's heart succumbed to the effects of weakness from chemotherapy while he partied all night long in Barcelona (typical work night) on his new dream consulting job as an Apple consultant.

At least Tom got a bite of Apple pie before he moved on. So to me this video is extra screamingly funny. It's not just a recitation of numbers, but a whole commentary on numbers, numerology and who might care about Pi and how far a normal person might take it. Very creative. You'll really enjoy it. Trust me, I know Comedy when I feel it.

The Super Bowl Shuffle - Bears Super Bowl Champs 1985 Replay

Share

Quick RSS Subscription Links

I've started to get more and more readers coming into my Chicago Bears and Super Bowl Pages, so I thought I would do a new page for all of you. The season isn't over till its over, right?

To get some good Bears vibes going, I thought I would bring you back to THE season, at least for me, the one which still get my heart moving whenever I think of it.

The year was 1985. The City was Chicago. Super Bowl madness was on us all.

This was the year we all thought, that the bears would be unstoppable and take it all.

This would be the year that the bears would win the Super Bowl.

And for once we were right. We just didn't know it yet.

It was the year of "Winning Ugly".

The year where the Bears would seem to hibernate until the third or fourth quarter then come back to win the game.

A year when even a defense player nicknamed Refrigerator could score a touchdown.

It was the year of the Super Bowl Shuffle and Ditka was da Coach.

The Super Bowl Shuffle - Click Here For Today's Humor

The Super Bowl Shuffle
(Words provided so that you can sing along with the Bears now - hear?
So sing by golly! Sing! Oh, press play, then sing, O.K. Mr. Wisenheimer?)

Chorus
We are the Bears' Shufflin' Crew
Shufflin' on down, doin' it for you
We're so bad, we know we're good
Blowin' your mind, like we knew we would
You know we're just struttin' for fun
Struttin' our stuff for everyone
We're not here to start no trouble
We're just here to do the Super Bowl Shuffle

Walter Payton
Well, they call me Sweetness, and I like to dance
Runnin' the ball, is like makin' romance
We've had the goal since training camp
To give Chicago a Super Bowl Champ
And we're not doin' this because we're greedy
The Bears are doin' it to feed the needy
We didn't come here looking for trouble
We just came here to do the Super Bowl Shuffle

Willie Gault
This is Speedy Willie, and I'm world class
I like runnin', but I love to get the pass
I practice all day, and dance all night
I got to get ready for the Sunday fight
Now, I'm as smooth as a chocolate swirl
I dance a little funky, so watch me girl
There's no one here that does it like me
My Super Bowl Shuffle will set you free

Mike Singletary
I'm Samurai Mike; I stop' em cold
Part of the defense, big and bold
I've been jammin' for quite a while
Doin' what's right, and settin' the style
Give me a chance, I'll rock you good
Nobody messin' in my neighborhood
I didn't come here lookin' for trouble
I just came to do the Super Bowl Shuffle

Repeat Chorus

Jim McMahon
I'm The Punky QB, known as McMahon
When I hit the turf, I've got no plan
I just throw my body all over the field
I can't dance, but I can throw the feel
I motivate the cats, I like to tease
I play so cool, I aim to please
That's why you all got here on the double
To catch me doin' the Super Bowl Shuffle

Otis Wilson
I'm Mama's Boy Otis, one of a kind
The ladies all love me for my body and my mind
I'm as slick on the floor as I can be
But ain't no sucker gonna get past me
Some guys are jealous of my style and class
That's why some end up on their (whistle)
I didn't come here lookin' for trouble
I just came down to do the Super Bowl Shuffle

Steve Fuller
They say Jimbo is our man
If Jimmy can't do it, I sure can
This is Steve, and it's no wonder
I run like lightnin', pass like thunder
So bring on Atlanta, bring on Dallas
This is for Mike, and Papa Bear Halas
I'm not here to feather his ruffle
I just came here to do the Super Bowl Shuffle

Mike Richardson
I'm L.A. Mike, and I play it cool
They don't sneak by me, 'cause I'm no fool
I fly on the field and get on down
Everybody knows I don't mess around
I can break 'em, shake 'em, any time of day
I like to steal it, and make 'em pay
Please don't try to beat my hustle
'Cause I'm just here to do the Super Bowl Shuffle

Repeat Chorus

Richard Dent
The Sackman's comin', I'm your man Dent
If the Quarterback's slow, he's gonna get bent
We stop the run, we stop the pass
I like to dump guys on their (whistle)
We love to play for the world's best fans
You better start makin' your Super Bowl plans
But don't get ready, or go to any trouble
Unless you practice the Super Bowl Shuffle

Gary Fencik
It's Gary here, and I'm Mr. Clean
They call me "Hit Man"; don't know what they mean
They throw it long, and watch me run
I'm on my man, one-on-one
Buddy's guys cover it down to the bone
That's why they call us "The 46 Zone"
Come on, everybody, let's scream and yell
We're goin' to do the Shuffle, then ring your bell

William Perry
You're lookin' at the Fridge; I'm the rookie
I may be large, but I'm no dumb cookie
You've seen me hit, you've seen me run
When I kick and pass, we'll have more fun
I can dance, you will see
The others, they all learn from me
I didn't come here lookin' for trouble
I just came here to do the Super Bowl Shuffle

Repeat Chorus

So there you have it. Hope you rapped along. As the '85 Bears proved neither musical nor rhythmic talent was needed to perform this gem.

Paris Hilton is Back in Jail Because the World Totally Freaked Out That Paris Was Sent Home Without Court Approval and:

  • This is real life not The Simple Life.
  • The Judge was a real Judge, perhaps even hoped that Paris would and was not amused.
  • The media was really hoping for one of those O.J. Simpson car "chases" and had to settle for pictures of paparazzi skirt chasers.
  • Paris' agent realized that her chances of an emmy would skyrocket with some real time behind bars, a shower scene and some prison laundry
  • Nicole called in a plot twist where chimpazees from space would invade the prison and kidnap Paris and her new Prison Posse, the Hilton Husseys.
Or at least, it could be. Next week: A visit from Britney and Lindsey tentatively titled: Strip Mauled

Jordin Sparks Glamorus and Moving Claim to Idol 6 Crown

Share

Quick RSS Subscription Links
Power youth, charm and beauty overcame experience, showmanship and versatility in last night's idol finale which was a star-studded tribute to the contestants by those who had climbed the ladder in the past; the likes of: Tony Bennett, Bette Midler, Steve Tyler and so many more, helping to show off the talents not only of the idol contestants, but what it means to be a true American Master, as Tony Bennett did when he showed the kids how to take an ecstatic crowd of fans and literally drive them to their feet, Simon included, in appreciation of his raw talent and showmanship.

Since the only clip of Tony from the finale that I could find was 19 seconds long, here's one from the Dean Martin Show showing a much younger Tony singing Fool of Fools and what he sang last night For Once In My Life. Then, Deano, the Rat Pack's Jester of Suave, joins Tony for There is Nothing Like A Dame and Mame. All this almost 40 years ago, in 1968. Back when Tony was already an American Idol.

This American Idol 6 Finale show, as well as showing off the talents of the top two competitors, was solid entertainment from end to end, and one which I hope will be released in DVD format with the rest of the season's highlights as in past years. This time, I'd like to see the whole finale from start to finish though.

The American Idol Finale-- Jordin or Blake? Who will Survive?

Share

Quick RSS Subscription Links

Jordin or Blake? Blake or Jordin?

This is another one of those posts that have my older friends going - huh? What do you see in that show?

They just don't understand. Given a change in the age limits of the show that could be ME up there. Really. No kidding.

"Sure you say."

"Come' on producers, get rid of the age limits you cowards and let's see."

My relatives are laughing their heads off right now. Some of them. The others believe.

Anyway, I'm way off the track. If you found this post, its because you do care about who wins the American Idol Season 6 Finale: 25 year old Blake Lewis or 17 year old Jordin Sparks.

Blake Lewis - His Songs From The Season 6 Semi-Final Show + Comments from Jackson, Abdul and Cowell

Jordin Sparks - Her songs from the Season 6 Semi-Final Show Without Comments From Jackson, Abdul and Cowell

Because of the absence of te glowing remarks for Sparks, these videos are not really fair comparisons so try to ignore the judges, just pay attention to the performances if you are just coming to this for the first time.

I would have rather directed you to the Fox American Idol Music Video Page which shows many of Blake and Jordin's best performances, but there is so much demand on that server right now that the YouTube videos are the only way to see these videos. To make up for not having judges remarks for Jordin's Semi final performances, I include this one from an earlier show.

Jordin Sparks - On a Clear Day You Can See Forever

SO who will win?

As you might guess from my intro, I don't think that age should be a factor, period.

So Jordin gets no extra creds for being so talented at 17 and Blake none for being likely, possibly to be more stable at 25. All that counts is their singing.

That being said I think that they are both huge talents and think already that this is a win win for AI producers who probably have them already tied into contracts. Or should if they are not idiots. That being said, my personal feeling is that Jordin is more innovative, original, and has greater star power. Then again, she's a great looking babe.

But man can she sing.

Blake is also phenomenally talented. He has lots of fans and ahs he history of Soul Patrol dynamics working for him. Women voting for him because he's hot, men to keep up the faith, and many just because he is talented.

On the other hand, Jordin has charisma, natural talent, beauty, charm, power and the ability to make a song her own.

I think that the results will be very close.

So how will it go. Are you going to make a difference?

If so, are you going to take advantage of your chance to vote for free perpetually to vote for someone you like, or mess things up?

Popular strategies:

1) Pick the ones you like and vote for them using auto redial as often as possible. Using more than one line if possible to hit the alternate numbers and a computer and second line if you have them.

2) Convince friends and family to engage in the same screwy behavior. If close to a time zone line be prepared to drive across the time zone line to get in an extra hour of calling, especially if you are on the boarder of Mountain or Pacific time.

3) I've not checked out votefortheworst.com but you have the option of following their lead or voting against it just for spite.

4) Here's one I thought of today. Just boost the numbers up as high as possible just to tie up the phone lines by voting for each candidate in sequence as long as you can. Just do your best to generate a huge volume of calls. Every call you make may block other calls trying to stack the deck, so by slipping your calls in you are actually making the competition fairer because you always vote for one after the other. You don't switch until you are sure a vote gets through.

Remember, you can vote as many times as you want. The best way to do this is to have two phone extensions on the same line, or two lines and pay attention. But have one dedicated to a number for each candidate. Then you just hit redial on each phone until you get through. Stopping on the other until you get the other ones vote to go through. The end result is an even number of votes for each.

Fun huh?

Even better if your computer does it for you.

Well there are my thoughts.

I thought this season was pretty good. Melinda is well on her way to being the Jennifer Hudson of this season. Watch for her at the Grammy's next year, and don't forget to visit here again!
